General Dancing Sessions
Thursday evenings from 8:00 pm until 10:30
pm from
8th September, 2011 until 21st June, 2012. The only
exception is that there is no session on 26th January, 2012,
which is the evening before our Burns Night.
Unless otherwise
stated, all events take place in St Matthews Primary School,
Langley Road, Surbiton KT6 6LW.
The first night of our new season is 8th September.
Special Evenings - Apart from the
annual Burns' Night Dinner Dance held in January, on these
evenings we have a Canadian supper
(in other words we all bring some food to share and the
Society adds the wine to keep our spirits high).
But we still manage to pack in 12 or more dances into the evening.
Welcome Evening
29th September 2011: an ideal evening to bring along some
family and friends with some simpler dances on the programme.
St Andrew's Evening
1st December, 2011:
As the long nights set in, come and be cheered up with a special
party (photos) with some Scottish (and other) delicacies and a dance programme
featuring some St Andrews connections.
Pre-Hogmanay Party
29th December, 2011: Why not get in the spirit for the New Year, have
fun and keep fit, all on one evening?.
We can expect lots of visitors as many other clubs close down over the
Christmas period.
Have a look at the photogallery
from previous events.
Burns' Supper (Dinner and Dancing)
Our annual celebration of the birthday of Scotland's bard will be held in Claygate village hall
on Friday, 27th January, 2012. Includes all the usual "haggisy"
celebrations and a slightly more serious Immortal Memory.
Spring Event (22nd March, 2012)
We all get dressed up
a bit to welcome in the Spring.
Annual General Meeting
This will be held on 17th May, 2012 at 8:00 pm and followed by a slightly
curtailed general dancing session. End-of-Season Party (21st June 2012) Get dressed up and come and celebrate another year
of fun and frolics.
As with any other of our special events, Non-Members are welcome. Request a Dance
We have not yet decided on the date for this evening, when the
programme is based on requests from the members. There is
sure to be lots of dancing and given the
familiarity of many of the dances, we will have shorter walkthroughs. If you have a
favourite dance that you would like us to do at one of our
weekly sessions, then don't be shy! Tell our secretary,
David Horwill.
Tuition Sessions
On certain evenings, and in particular when Jim Cook is our MC, we spend a bit more time on tuition.
